EMN Spoilers 6/23: Thalia, Heretical Cathar and Supplanter of Identity!

I’m back with two cards that I assume are leaked, since Wizards usually doesn’t actually photographs of cards of spoilers, instead spoiling the digital image’s file. Here’s a translated version of the first card, which is Thalia, returned, and maybe slightly less broken.

Thalia, Heretical Cathar

2W

Legendary Creature – Human soldier

First Strike

Creatures and non-basic lands your opponents control come into play tapped.

3/2

It’s like a white Blood Moon. It’s designed to punish greedy mana bases. It’s body is pretty good, a 3/2 First Striker for 3, and the effect is great. Standard Bant Company could side this in versus the GW Tokens decks to gain some tempo advantage. I seriously think this card is Modern playable. In Death and Taxes, this is an excellent card to flash in in response to an opponent cracking a fetch or playing a creature. Death and Taxes is not exactly Tier One, but I think Thalia’s price will not be that of a bulk rare.

Second, we have a somewhat less interesting card, from a competitive standpoint.

Identity Supplanter/ Supplanter of Identity

2UU

Whenever Identity Supplanter attacks, you may exile target nontoken creature. If you do, Identity Supplanter becomes a copy of that creature until the end of turn. Return the exiled card onto to the battlefield under its owners control at the beginning of the next end step.

0/3

I don’t see where this will be played, outside of EDH. Maybe as a Control finisher that gets rid of a big blocker, becomes it, and beats down that way? I’m not entirely sure how this one will work out.
