Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim: Part 3

In the last Ayli post, I’m going to talk about the recursion spells the deck employs to get back the creatures that you have sacrificed to Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim.

Marshal’s Anthem both boosts all your creatures, and it gets anything back from the graveyard to the battlefield. It’s pretty strong as a spell to sink your mana into. Palace Siege is pretty versatile. It can either get your engine online by gaining you life, or it can help fuel your engine by recurring sacrificed creatures.

Athreos isn’t technically recursion, but it does sometime get you back some creatures. It’s great because you target the opponent who chooses, so you can choose someone who is low on life or someone you are allied with. Relentless Dead is good because it gets in quickly for a few points, then can be repeatedly sacrificed to Ayli. The deck only has two other Zombies, so the second recursion effect doesn’t come up much, but when it does, it feels good.

Sun Titan. Because Sun Titan. Period. The deck’s curve is so low, this gets back almost anything.

Decklist: Ayli EDH

The decklist has been altered since I did the other posts, so some card I discussed may not be included anymore.

For this deck, I’m hunting for: Sorin, Grim Nemesis and Westvale Abbey.

What do you think of the deck? Should I pick up anything else?
