A white Christmas in Canada. Was listening to podcasts on interesting Standard decks on the plane to Canada, such as Rally, Leap, and Tutelage. Abzan Rally dominated Standard for a few Standard events, and I, trying to get back into Standard with decks such as with my new Tutelage deck, wanted to make a Rally deck. I was thinking about what would be the best low mana set of creatures to make a Rally deck around? Allies, of course! White and black allies to be precise. I feel this deck is really competitive, though it’s less than $30.
Deck on Tapped Out: WB Ally Rally
The deck is based around three cards. Zulaport Cutthroat, Kalastria Healer, Rally the Ancestors, and Nantuko Husk. Pump out lots of allies, dropping Zulaport, Kalastria, and Nantuko along the way. Lots of removal to stall against aggressive decks. Sac everything to Nantuko. Get lots Zulaport triggers, typically 3 or 4. Recur all the allies with Rally. Get 3 or 4 Kalastria trigger. Sac them again. Get 3 or 4 more Zulaport Triggers. That’s 9 to 12 damage, and 9 to 12 life for you! Great. You can set up this combo by around turn 5. After that, do it again, still stalling with removal. March from the Tomb is a great finisher.
Example of Solitare Gameplay:
Turn One: Land, Cliffside Lookout or Expedition Envoy
Turn Two: Land, Zulaport Cutthroat or Kalastria Healer
Turn Three: Land, Other Combo Piece and Cliffside Lookout or Expedition Envoy
Turn Four: Land, Nantuko Husk, and Cliffside Lookout or Expedition Envoy
Turn Five: Land, Expedition Envoy or Cliffside Lookout, Combo off, Rally, Combo Again
This Gameplan is extremely flexible. In this deck, Zulaport Cutthroat is twice as effective when comboing off, so the Kalastria Healer can be replaced by another Zulaport. The Zulaport can be replaced by another Kalastria, but with less benefit. The life drain gives you a big buffer zone in terms of life, so you can afford to take some damage while setting up your combos. Do you think this deck is good enough?
